The Power of Patience
In my early 20’s this was something that was a real struggle for me. Patience? Are you kidding me? Everything should have happened yesterday. Right? I know I am not alone here, but finding that internal balance in your life between wanting everything NOW and understanding that good things take time is something that doesn’t come easy.
Here are just a few things I have learned in the last 10 years of my life…
Amazing advances in life do not just happen overnight. In fact, I have found that the more outlandish the end goal, the longer it is going to take to work towards it. After all no one has become independently wealthy overnight without the help of the lottery or a death in the family, so there is something to be said about the process & what it asks of you along the way. EARN IT.
I have never been a fan of the “good things come to those who wait” quote. I think it is VERY misleading. Almost makes it sound like you can go sit on your ass for 6-8 months and magically things will change for the better in your life… That shit is NOT true. What I prefer to say is “good things come to those who work hard and have patience. The AND is the most important part of that equation because without the 2 paired together, you will not have the most favorable outcome.
The truth is you can work as hard as you want on a goal, but if you do not FINISH your efforts were wasted. GRIND day in and day out, but if you are incapable of being patient enough to see this through to the very end, you will NEVER reap the benefits of the hard work you have put in. I have seen plenty of people bail out, unwilling to stick it out, afraid “it won’t happen”…”this could be a waste of my time” Well if you have a mindset like that you really will never get to see the outcome, now will you??
There is a VERY, VERY fine line you must walk between pairing patience & effort together without crossing over to obsession & sheer disregard for the outcome. The whole “whatever it takes” quote. YES, I do agree with that but just be sure that you are laser focused on a specific end result. At times, from afar, it can see like you are crazy obsessed with your journey but what they don’t see is that it isn’t chaotic and unruly. Your direction is focused & dialed in, now all it’s going to take is some time. Call me obsessed…it won’t hurt my feelings one bit.
Stick it out. No one EVER regrets following through to the end. Even if it’s not the outcome that you wanted, you still accomplished something and you have the peace of mind knowing that you have the final outcome. No “what ifs or should have, could have would haves”
Be patient while working hard my friends. Stay the course. Good things are headed your way.
